Bale Voted In Team Of The Year 2011
Users of UEFA.com have voted for the Team of the Year 2011. And it's good news for Wales fans.
Gareth Bale has become the first Welshman and Spurs player to be named in UEFA's Team of the Year. He is also the only player in the team who plays in the Premier League.
His induction to this year's Team of the Year makes Wales the 19th nation to have a representative in the prestigious team.
Bale joins the likes of Lionel Messi, Andrea Iniesta and Christiano Ronaldo in a team that is once again dominated by those who play in Spanish clubs.
The rest of the team has been filled out like so:
Goalkeeper: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid CF & Spain)
Right-back: Daniel Alves (FC Barcelona)
Centre-back: Gerard Piqué (FC Barcelona & Spain)
Centre-back: Thiago Silva (AC Milan)
Left-back: Marcelo (Real Madrid CF)
Right midfield: Arjen Robben (FC Bayern München & Netherlands)
Centre midfield: Xavi Hernández (FC Barcelona & Spain)
Attacking midfield: Andrés Iniesta (FC Barcelona & Spain)
Left midfield: Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur FC & Wales)

Marcelo as the best left-back in Europe? Pfft! Thiago Silva is a beast of a player though, good pick that.
