Don't you just love social media?

I do. What's not to love?

Another thing I love is statistics. And when there's statistics about social media, my mind bursts into a sea of rainbows in which I drift into a world of epicosity only known by horses and aadvarks alike.

Last month, a rather lovely website known as The Net Web looked at the statistics of various social media websites and came up with a rather interesting factoid.

What is that factoid? Well, if you look at the title, you might enhance your chances of a correct guess.

Yes, that is correct. MySpace is doing rather well, it seems. Well, I say "rather well", I mean rather well compared to this time last year where they lost nearly ten million users in the month of January 2011. That's got to hurt.

Although at a rather slow pace, MySpace is gaining users. They announced that in last December they gained one million new users. By cricket, that's rather good for a website that had lost ten million users in such a short time.

Do you want to know something else? MySpace is receiving more hits than either Google+, Tumblr and Pinterest.

The survey conducted by comScore, MySpace is the fourth most visited social network, topping Tumblr with nearly 10,000 unique visits. It's still lagging behind Twitter and LinkedIn, both receiving 35,447 and 54,991 unique views respectively, but these figures are dwarfed by the social network giant Facebook, who has over 165,000 unique views.

That said, it seems that the average user visits MySpace for only 12 minutes, which is second to last, beating Google+ by over six minutes.

Facebook, Tumblr and Pinterest are the networks that hold the top three spots, with the average user spending 394 minutes, 141 minutes and 88 minutes respectively.

That means the average user spends over six hours on Facebook. That's rather awesome/average/terrifying for the human race. I'll let you cross out which one you think is correct.

So, MySpace is not as dead as everyone believes.
